Patio Umbrella Lights

Patio umbrella lights make using your patio umbrella at night possible. They provide diffused, soft lighting that adds an elegant touch to evening gatherings and pool and deck parties. There are two types of patio umbrella lights that you can use: electric and open flame lights. Open-flame lights can be in the form of candle-lamps or oil-lamps.

Electric lights

Electric patio umbrella lights consist of a series of bulb receptacles connected by wire, a plug connected to one end of the wire, and a switch. Typical household light bulbs are screwed into the receptacles. When the switch is turned on, electricity runs from the plug through the wire and to the bulbs, causing them to light up.

Using electric patio umbrella lights have several advantages. Its main advantage is the safety it provides. As long as they are not used in bad weather, electric lights are safer to use than open flame lights. The wire used in electric lights is usually wrapped in rubber to protect the copper core from moisture. Another advantage of using electric lights is that they are easy to use. All you need to do is turn the switch on to make them work. Justs remember to change the bulbs regularly to keep them working properly.

Despite its advantages, using electric lights has its drawbacks as well. Using them requires an electrical socket near your patio umbrella. If you do not have an outdoor power socket, then you have to plug them through the socket of an extension cord. The length of the extension cord become an inconvenience and present a tripping hazard.

Candle lamps

Candle lamps are suspended from the patio umbrella frame to provide open flame lighting. They usually consist of hollowed-out glass containers and hooks that allow them to be suspended. Candle lamps feature the charming flicker of candlelight that creates a softer and more intimate atmosphere.

Aside from the beautiful lighting they provide, candle lamps have the advantage of being wireless. They have no need for wires, electricity, and extension cords. You can light them using matches or a long-nosed candle lighter. Melted candles can be easily replaced with new ones.

However, candle lamps are fire hazards. They can easily burn the canopy of the patio umbrella because it is made of inflammable fabric.

Oil lamps

Oil lamps are powered by wicks immersed in kerosene and using them creates a rustic, old-fashioned environment. They look like candle lamps, and they are hung from the patio umbrella's frame as well. Like candle lamps, they provide beautiful, natural lighting through a simple, wireless installation. However, oil lamps are also fire hazards. If they are not properly suspended, they can tip over, pouring the kerosene on the table or the ground in the process, and cause a fire. Oil lamps are difficult to maintain. They cannot be left outside if they are not going to be used. They also have to be cleaned regularly to keep them working properly.
